PRESS RELEASE

OFFICIAL VISIT OF
QUEEN OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND, ELIZABETH II
TO TURKEY
 (May 13-16, 2008)

 

1. GENERAL

 

Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, ELIZABETH II and Duke of Edinburgh, Prince PHILIP will pay an official visit to Turkey, on May, 13-16 2008. The honorable guests will visit Ankara, Bursa and Istanbul.

 

The Directorate General of Press and Information will provide a general accreditation for the visit. In addition, the Embassy of United Kingdom will be implementing a “press pool” system during the entire visit that covers Ankara, Bursa and Istanbul

 

Members of the press who wish to cover the visit can receive information on the press pool system from the press office of the Embassy of United Kingdom, Ferit ASLAN (Tel: 0312 455 32 48 GSM: 0533 377 10 36) and from the press officer of Istanbul Consulate General Nur AKINSAL (Tel: 0212 334 64 36, GSM: 0532 271 14 72)

 

2. ACCREDITATION

Members of the press who wish to cover the visit should apply for accreditation in person or by fax to the following address by Friday May 2 at the latest.

 

a)      Members of the national press should legibly fill out the enclosed accreditation form (also available at www.byegm.gov.tr) and attach a copy of their press card. (Media members without this press card should apply with a letter of authorization from their media organization and a copy of their official ID cards.)

 

b)      Resident members of the foreign press in Turkey should legibly fill out the enclosed accreditation form (also available at www.byegm.gov.tr) and attach a copy of their press card only.

 

c)   Members of the foreign press coming from abroad should legibly fill out the enclosed accreditation form (also available at www.byegm.gov.tr) and attach a letter of authorization from their media organization and a copy of their passport.

3. FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION FORM

 

a) Only one province should be checked for the question “which province do you wish to get your accreditation card from?”

 

b) Since the accreditation form is a declaratory statement, illegible forms or forms with missing information or insufficient supporting documents will not be processed, and no notification will be given, or correspondence entered into to rectify the application.

 

c) Requests received after May 02, 2008 will not be processed

 

4. ACCREDITATION CARDS

Members of the press should collect their accreditation cards in person, by presenting a photo ID. Persons presenting an ID of a press agency or an official authorization letter from a press agency may also collect accreditation cards that they are authorized to. 

 

            Members of the press who wish to collect their accreditation cards from Ankara, as stated in their application form, should collect their cards by May 8, during office hours, from:
