Taking the name of Atatürk or "Father of the Turks" Mustafa Kemal demolished the crumbling vestige of the Ottoman past and founded the modern Republic of Turkey, based on Western laws.  It was Atatürk  who made the strategically placed Ankara Turkey's capital, and the city is a monument to his vision of a modern westernized state.

And do you know that he is the only leader who gave a holiday for the children?  Sure is.   On the 23rd of April, it is Children's Day in Turkey.
