Mobile Primary Education was launched in order to provide better education to students at schools com-bining different grades and for school-age children living in scattered settlements with small populations having no schools.
The general purpose of the Basic Education Project is to support 8 years of training. Under the 1st Phase of Basic Education Project, 3,188 fully equipped Information&Tech-nology Classes have been constituted in some 2,800 primary schools throughout Turkey. More than 2.2 million students in these schools were given the opportunity to benefit from information and training technologies. |

Under the 2nd Phase of Basic Education Project, 4,002 “Information & Technology Classes” have been constituted in 3,000 primary schools in 2006. Training materials have been purchased for 4,000 primary schools in rural and slum areas. |

Secondary Education: Secondary Education includes general, vocational and technical institutions educational based on primary education as well as at least four years of schooling.

High schools offering a variety of curricula comprise secondary education. After completing primary education and qualifying for secondary education, students have the right to continue secondary education in line with their interests and talents. |

General secondary education include general high schools, Anatolian high schools, science schools, social sciences high schools, Anatolian Teacher Training Schools, Anatolian fine arts schools and sports high schools. Vocational and technical secondary education consist of technical schools for boys, technical schools for girls, vocational schools for commerce and hotel management and theological high schools. |

Some 3.4 million students were educated by nearly 188,000 teachers in 7,900 schools offering secondary education during the 2006-2007 school year. |

Under the Project for Restructuring Secondary Education, the textbooks of students in secondary education have been provided free of charge by the government. |
