Participation in EU Framework Programs: The task of national coordination of EU Framework Programs is being implemented by TÜBİTAK’s EU Programs National Coordination Office. The National Coordination System was established in 2003, and it has been strengthened over the last three years with the coordinated activities implemented by the shareholders. At the National Coordination System for the Framework Programs, the communication with the research and innovation actors of the country is furnished by means of National Contact Points (UIN) and Institutional Contact Points (KIN).

Institutional Contact Points are contributing to effective participation in the program especially by transferring the information about 7th FP, regularly transmitted to them from TÜBİTAK’s EU Programs National Coordination Office (UKO), to the authorities at their institutions. After comprehensive work strengthen the Institutional Contact Points System, the structure representing 134 different organizations (research centers, industrial organizations and groups, private sector, public organizations and the universities) has been restructured. Since 2002, within the scope of the 6 FP and the preparations for the 7th FP, almost 500 information and training activities (Thematic Conference, General Informing Day, Thematic Informing Day, Workshop, and Training) have been held in cities throughout Turkey with more than 26,000 participants.

UKO is attending 33 projects (the coordination of three of these projects are under the responsibility of UKO) funded by European Commission, for the purpose of strengthening the project development capacities of universities, SMEs, NGOs, and research institutions, within the scope of Framework Programs.

As the performance of the country is evaluated for the period of the 6 FP, it can be seen that the performance of the institutions participating to the program rises every year.
