As part of their visit to Ankara, 52 journalists from Pakistan Media Club visited the Directorate General of Press and Information.
Meeting the delegation over lunch, Deputy Director General of Press and Information Ekrem Okutan expressed his pleasure to host press members from friendly and brotherly country Pakistan.
Indicating that they followed the developments in Turkey very closely, Pakistani journalists asked questions about the working conditions of press members in Turkey as well as the freedom of press.
Indicating that there were numerous televisions, radio channels and newspapers representing all segments of society in Turkey, Okutan noted that there was multivocality in media.
Pakistani anchorman and TV producer Yasir Rahman expressed that Turkey was held up as an example in his country in the field of media as well as many other areas. He also indicated that leadership was also among these exemplary fields, saying: “We have a new saying: ‘If you are going to be a leader, be as Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’, because Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is not only the leader of Turkey, but also of the entire Muslim world.”
The delegation had a family photo together with the officials of the DGPI at the end of the meeting.
