The strong interest shown in halal tourism around the world has encouraged Turkey to participate in this market.
The rising income levels of Muslims around the world and their desire to travel has led to a rapid increase in demand for halal products. The Islamic travel market, which was $ 151 billion in 2015, is expected to reach $ 243 billion in 2021.
According to experts, if Turkey uses the potential of halal tourism that is spreading around the world, it can easily reach 50 billion dollars in tourism revenue, which is its goal for 2023, and 30% of this income can be derived from halal tourism .
Hüseyin Pamukçu, a professor at the Faculty of Tourism at Kastamonu University, said that halal tourism has been included in Turkey's strategy for 2023, stated the following:
“Turkey has stepped up its efforts to show that it is a market that houses various tourism products and services in the halal tourism market. The Expo Halal 2017, which will be organized from 23 to 25 November 2017 under the auspices of the President of the Republic, will include topics such as halal food, Islamic finance, Islamic textile, halal medicine, halal chemistry and drugstore. Halal tourism was also discussed at the 3rd Tourism Congress.”
