Dieser Vorfall wird in keinster Weise toleriert werden.” so Gül. Auf eine Frage der Journalisten zu der Reaktion der NATO sagte Ministerpräsident Recep Tayyip Erdoğan “Wir sind erfreut über die Reaktion der NATO. Während der Sitzung im Hauptquartier des Bündnisses haben 28 Mitgliedstaaten Syrien kritisiert.“

    Den Abschuss eines türkischen Militärjets durch Syrien verurteilte der Ministerpräsident scharf. Der türkische Ministerpräsident Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hat angekündigt, auf jede weitere Aggression durch Syrien mit militärischen Mitteln zu reagieren. Die Einsatzregeln der türkischen Armee seien nach dem Abschuss eines Militärjets durch Syrien entsprechend geändert worden, sagte Erdoğan. Der Abschuss der Maschine am vergangenen Freitag sei ein "feindseliger Akt" gewesen. "So wertvoll die Freundschaft der Türkei ist, so heftig ist ihr Zorn", sagte Erdoğan vor der Parlamentsfraktion seiner Regierungspartei AKP. Die Türkei werde nach dem Abschuss über internationalen Gewässern alle Möglichkeiten des Völkerrechts ausnutzen, sagte Erdoğan weiter. Jede weitere syrische Aktion dieser Art werde als Bedrohung aufgefasst und entsprechend beantwortet. Zugleich forderte Erdoğan den Sturz des syrischen Präsidenten Baschar al-Assad. "Die Türkei unterstützt das syrische Volk mit allen nötigen Mitteln, bis es von Unterdrückung, Massakern, diesem blutdurstigen Diktator und seiner Clique befreit ist", sagte Erdoğan.
  • NATO VERURTEILT SYRIEN

    Die Nato, die auf Antrag der Türkei am Dienstag zu einer Krisensitzung zusammen gekommen ist, verurteilte den Abschuss des türkischen Kampfjets durch die syrische Luftwaffe als "nicht hinnehmbar". Die Türkei hatte um ein Treffen gemäß Artikel 4 des Nato-Vertrags gebeten. Dieser sieht Konsultationen für den Fall vor, dass sich ein Mitglied in seiner territorialen Unversehrtheit, seiner Unabhängigkeit oder Sicherheit bedroht fühlt. Die Krisensitzung dauerte zwei Stunden. Die Nato erklärte ihre Solidarität mit dem Bündnispartner Türkei und forderte Syrien auf sicherzustellen, dass sich ein Zwischenfall wie am vorigen Freitag nicht wiederhole. "Die Sicherheit des Bündnisses ist unteilbar. Wir stehen der Türkei im Geiste starker Solidarität bei", sagte Rasmussen. Sollte Syrien erneut militärisch gegen die Türkei vorgehen, "werden wir uns beraten und diskutieren, was noch getan werden kann", sagte Rasmussen. "Was wir gesehen haben, ist völlig inakzeptabel. Und ich erwarte, dass Syrien alle nötigen Maßnahmen ergreift, um so etwas in der Zukunft zu verhindern", sagte Rasmussen vor Journalisten.

    Der deutsche Verteidigungsminister Thomas de Maiziere hat den Abschuss eines türkischen Kampfjets durch Syrien als inakzeptabel bezeichnet. Maiziere sagte, dass sie an der Seite von Ankara stehen und die Ansicht der Türkei hinsichtlich dieses Themas teilen. Der deutsche Verteidigungsminister erinnerte daran, dass das abgeschossene Flugzeug auf einem Übungsflug war und dass das Flugzeug nicht bewaffnet war. „Aus diesen Gründen ist der Abschuss des Flugzeuges inakzeptabel.” so Maiziere weiter.

    President Abdullah Gul responded to reporters’ questions after a press conference he held along with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic as part of the 20th Anniversary Summit of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) yesterday. In reply to a question whether the outcome of the NATO meeting on Syria satisfied Turkey, Gul said the details about the incident have already been revealed and reiterated that the Turkish jet which was shot down by Syria was not hostile toward it at all. “It was not flying at the time to detect what was going on in Syria either. It was a routine flight indeed. Otherwise, it would have been guarded by another jet. However, what happened in the international waters demonstrated the paranoia the Syrian Armed Forces are experiencing. We appreciate the solidarity of the international community about this incident. Obviously, we will not swallow it at all,” Gul said.
  • BSEC COUNTRIES CONVENE IN ISTANBUL

    The 20th Anniversary Summit of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) ended with a full commitment to the future goals of the organization, as the final declaration of the summit was agreed with the 12 members of the organization. President Abdullah Gul held a joint press conference along with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic as co-chairs of the summit in Istanbul, during which he said that the BSEC has assumed important roles in the last two decades in terms of developing solidarity, cooperation and conciliation among the countries in the Black Sea basin and that the synergy emerging out of this organization greatly contributed to the consolidation of peace, stability and prosperity in the region. Gul said that Turkey, which was set to take over rotating presidency of the organization on July 1 aimed to transform the BSEC into a more functional group. “As part of this, the Economic Agenda which will determine the targets of the organization for the next decade was adopted. This document is about its vision for 2020 regarding such issues as trade, transportation, energy, communication, science and technology, tourism and education,” Gul said, adding, “ We will deepen the cooperation as to the international energy security. We will also focus on fighting against terrorism, human trafficking, climate change and organized crime. I hope the member states take advantage of the BSEC more in order to develop their existing solidarity and cooperation.” Speaking for his part, Nikolic said that he was happy that Istanbul, a symbol of the common and rich culture and history of BSEC member states, hosted the 20th anniversary summit. Within the scope of the BSEC summit yesterday, Gul also met with his Azeri counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Saakashvili. All these meetings were also closed to the press.
  • ERDOGAN DEFINES DOWNING OF TURKISH JET BY SYRIA AS HOSTILE APPROACH

    Speaking at a meeting of his Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in Parliament yesterday, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that it was ascertained the Turkish military jet had been downed on June 22 not in Syria's territorial waters, but 13 miles off the Syrian coast, adding that the aircraft had been downed not accidentally, but deliberately with a hostile approach. Stating that the attack has resulted in a new phase in Turkish-Syrian relations, Erdogan said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime has evidently become a clear and present danger to Turkey’s security. “The rules of engagement of the Turkish Armed Forces have changed. Any military element that approaches the Turkish border from Syria, posing a security risk or danger, will be regarded as a threat and treated as a military target,” Erdogan added. Erdogan stressed that Turkey would not tolerate that incident at all and not leave it unanswered, adding that every military element approaching Turkish borders from Syria would be considered a threat. “However valuable Turkey’s friendship is, its wrath is just as strong. Don’t take our common sense and cautious approach as a sign of passivity,” Erdogan said. Stating that the downing of the jet by Syria has nothing to do with a violation of Syria’s airspace, Erdogan noted that Turkey’s airspace has been violated by other countries 114 times since January 1 of this year. “Syrian helicopters also violated our air space five times recently. We warned them to leave. Syria’s position is also clear evidence that our jet was hit in a hostile act. Syria attacked a second rescue plane with harassing fire, and this is proof that the act was deliberate,” Erdogan added.

    Turkey has urged the UN to show decisiveness in the ongoing crisis in Syria, condemning an attack on a Turkish jet as a “hostile act by the Syrian authorities against Turkey’s national security.” In a letter delivered on Monday to the UN Security Council by Turkish Ambassador to the United Nations Ertugrul Apakan, Turkey stated, “A Turkish RF-4 type military aircraft was shot down by Syrian forces while flying solo and without arms 13 NM off the coast of Syria in international airspace at an altitude of 7,400 feet.”In the letter it was also noted that the identification markings of the jet were visible, the Turkish aircraft was not acting in a hostile manner and that a shot being fired without warning caused the jet to plunge into the Mediterranean Sea, eight miles off Syria’s coastal province of Latakia. The letter also says that although the search operations should have been carried out jointly with Syrian authorities, Syria did not cooperate and fired at a second Turkish aircraft on Friday, but the second plane was not brought down. The disclosure of the second incident came on the eve of a NATO crisis meeting that Turkey called to address the shooting down of its F-4 jet, which Ankara has described as an unprovoked attack in international airspace. Delivering Turkey’s position on the recent incident and developments in Turkish-Syrian relations during a UN Security Council meeting Apakan said, “The international community should disclose its determination to stop the crisis from deepening further and take additional steps to put an end to the increasing violence in the region.” Calling the attack a hostile act by the Syrian authorities against Turkey’s national security, Apakan said Turkey reserves its rights stemming from international law. Apakan also noted that Turkey will continue to support the six-point peace plan of international envoy Kofi Annan, stressing however, that the process cannot be open ended. Condemning the increasing death toll as a result of intentional attacks and the excessive use of force in Syria, Apakan underlined that the main responsibility to protect civilians belongs to states. “However, if states fail to protect civilians, the international community has a responsibility to protect civilians.”

    Le Premier ministre Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a mis en garde la Syrie que les Forces armées turques (TSK) ont reçu des instructions pour traiter toute approche des unités de l'armée syrienne comme une menace, après que les forces syriennes ont abattu un jet de reconnaissance turque dans l’espace aérien international. Notant que l'attaque a donné lieu à une nouvelle phase dans les relations turco-syriennes, M. Erdoğan a déclaré : « maintenant il est clair que le régime al-Assad est devenu un danger clair et présent pour la sécurité de la Turquie. Les règles d'engagement des forces armées turques ont changé ", lors de la réunion de son parti de la Justice et du Développement (AKP) au Parlement. "Tout élément militaire qui se rapproche de la frontière turque à partir de la Syrie, et qui pose un risque de sécurité ou de danger, sera considéré comme une menace et traitée comme une cible militaire." a-t-il souligné. "Toutefois l’amitié de la Turquie est précieuse, sa colère est tout aussi forte. Ne prenez pas notre bon sens et prudence comme un signe de passivité », a-t-il dit. Après le discours de M. Erdoğan, les véhicules militaires ont été vus transportant des renforts à la frontière syrienne, dans un signe de l'escalade des tensions le long de la frontière. L'agence Cihan a indiqué que quelque 15 véhicules militaires, y compris des chars et des véhicules d'artillerie à longue portée, avaient été dépêchés à la frontière de Diyarbakır. Répondant aux critiques à la suite de l'incident de jet , il a dit que personne ne devrait faire des déclarations qui peuvent nuire aux intérêts nationaux de la Turquie, ajoutant que les partis politiques turcs devraient éviter de faire des déclarations qui dépeignent l'acte du régime d'Assad comme innocent et qu'ils devraient être à côte avec le gouvernement sur cette question nationale. "L'avion qui a été abattu n'était pas l’avion de Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ou de l'AKP. C’était l’avion de la Turquie, abattu dans l'espace aérien international, a dit M. Erdoğan. "Notre avion militaire n'a pas été abattu par erreur, mais a été visé par un acte hostile et délibérée», a- t-il déclaré ajoutant il ya des cercles à l'intérieur et l'extérieur de la Turquie qui tentaient de déformer les faits. Affirmant que la destruction en vol du jet par la Syrie n'a rien à voir avec une violation de l'espace aérien de la Syrie, M. Erdoğan a noté que l'espace aérien de la Turquie a été violé par d'autres pays 114 fois depuis 1er janvier de cette année. «Les hélicoptères syriens ont aussi violé notre espace aérien à cinq reprises récemment. Nous les avons avertis à quitter notre territoire. Notre avion a été touché à un acte hostile. La Syrie a également attaqué notre avion de sauvetage avec un tir de harcèlement, et c'est la preuve que l'acte était délibéré, "a-t-il ajouté.

Nous félicitons la Turquie pour sa réponse mesurée à ce jour," a déclaré le porte-parole de la Maison Blanche Jay Carney le mardi . Répondant à une question, Carney a rappelé que l'OTAN a montré sa détermination en condamnant dans les termes les plus forts l’attaque d’un avion militaire turc par la Syrie le 22 juin dernier. "Les Etats-Unis et les membres de l'OTAN sont solidaires avec la Turquie. Nous allons travailler avec la Turquie et d'autres partenaires pour maintenir le régime d'Assad responsable et de continuer à aller en avant pour la transition politique nécessaire en Syrie ", a affirmé M. Carney. Répondant à une autre question de savoir si le président américain Barack Obama avait craint que « la langue forte » du Premier ministre t Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pourrait augmenter les risques d'escalade et les tensions le long de la frontière entre la Turquie et la Syrie, Carney a déclaré qu'il trouvait les remarques d'Erdoğan "mesurées". "Je pense que les commentaires étaient plus mesurés que vous avez décrit, et comme le Conseil de l'Atlantique dit clairement, ce fut un acte inacceptable. Les Etats-Unis restent en contact étroit en Turquie, avec les responsables turcs, comme ils continuent à enquêter sur l'incident, "a-t-il dit.

    S'exprimant lors de la cérémonie de signature pour le pipeline Trans Gas Anatolie ou TANAP à Istanbul avec le président de l’Azerbaïdjan Ilham Aliyev, le Premier ministre Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a déclaré que l'accord constituait l'étape la plus importante pour compléter le cadre juridique du projet. Erdoğan a déclaré que le projet permettrait de renforcer la coopération stratégique entre la Turquie et l'Azerbaïdjan et qu’il contribuerait également à établir un lien organique entre l'Azerbaïdjan et l'Europe. "Avec la matérialisation du projet, la Turquie et l'Azerbaïdjan apporteront une grande contribution à l'objectif de l'Union européenne de la diversification des ressources énergétiques et nos deux pays joueront un rôle important dans la sécurité énergétique européenne," a déclaré M. Erdoğan. M. Erdoğan a noté que des projets qui composent le corridor énergétique Est-Ouest sont des étapes stratégiques pour le développement économique ainsi que l'amélioration de la sécurité et la paix dans la région. TANAP transportera le gaz naturel de l'Azerbaïdjan via la Géorgie vers la Turquie et l'Europe. Les deux pays ont signé en Décembre 2011, un mémorandum d'accord pour construire le pipeline de 7 milliards de dollars. La capacité du gazoduc est estimé à 23 millions de mètres cubes en 2023 et à 31 millions de mètres cubes en 2026.
